Performance anxiety

It can strike anywhere, at any time: in the board room, the concert hall, the lecture theatre, the exam room.

We might know that we've prepared as much as humanly possible or alternatively might be horribly aware that we are under-prepared, but either way, the nausea, the need to run to the loo, the sweaty palms are all too real.

School exams are looming for some, and given that the exam room can create a fear that shuts down the mind and have us blankly staring at the page, it's probably worth starting to practice stress release techniques, which should perhaps be considered to be as important as subject study.

Box breathing (breathe in for four counts, hold for four counts, breathe out for four counts, hold for four counts) is possibly the most efficient method for getting stress under control. It should be practised in advance, however, because it can cause dizziness at first.

Wishing everyone prepping for exams the very best of luck (and their parents too!). Do let us know how you get on!
