Must be funny (according to ABBA)

Money.

The other day, a dear friend asked me why I hadn’t written about money as yet in these posts. I responded that there have been a few subjects that I haven’t been brave enough to broach, money being one of them.

Why? Because writing that one is “blessed” regarding money sounds patronising to me. (Not sure why, but I’m really triggered by that word!)

At the same time, if I wrote about the financial difficulties of the past, it would feel disingenuous because even in the worst times, I could rely on friends and family to help (if only I was brave enough to ask).

Money is certainly a stressor for so many of us, even those whom most of the community would consider to be extremely wealthy. JP Getty, the world’s wealthiest man at the time, was asked if he had enough money. He replied that no amount would ever be enough.

Over dinner recently, another dear friend said that money is "freedom to create joy and beauty". Such a beautiful sentiment. But is it realistic? Sufficiently pragmatic? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
