Make Me Famous

Spending a bit of time catching up on world news today, I saw several articles which made me wonder: why would you ever seek fame?

Some people become famous because of the person with whom they have a relationship. Some people are very, very good at what they do and become famous as a by-product. And some people actively seek to become famous, in whatever way they can.

In an insightful article published in July 2023 (The Psychology of Fame: Unraveling the Mental Impact of Stardom), DL Roberts, PhD writes:

"Some people are driven by the desire for validation and acceptance, stemming from their deep-rooted insecurities. Others may see fame as a means of achieving power, wealth, or as a route to societal contribution. The motivation towards this pursuit can already imply certain psychological predispositions, such as high ambition, need for approval, or fear of rejection."

I know a few musicians who are famous, but in the relatively small world of classical music. But (gifted, beautiful) Margot Robbie-famous? I don't know anyone of that ilk.

So I'll ask you: if you are famous, or are close to someone who is, how stressful is fame? Or does it feed them/you? Love to hear your thoughts!

Caroline
